Dear all
Due to a virus problem, I have had to install windows (xp) on my laptop but in device manager under other devices the following item has yellow question marks:-

As network controller driver is missing I can't connect to the internet to download drivers directly from internet, though I do have access to the internet via another pc.
Can somebody please help me get my laptop back on the internet?

Get stuck on the USB 3.0 not working after the Windows 10 Creators Update or Spring Creators Update 1803? Always have the 'Eject USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)' notification on the taskbar? The USB 3.0 or 3.1 device is shown as 'Unspecified' on the computer? After the Windows 10 Creators Update or the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, users have experienced various computer problems. Some get the black screen issue when turning on the PC; some fail to connect to the network because of the WiFi problem, and now, some with the motherboard Gigabyte Z170X or so suffer the USB 3.0 not working problem, which also causes the mouse and keyboard not working properly after the update.
In this case, Microsoft has urged those who want to work with a stable computer not to update to the latest Windows 10 build by hand and the Redmond giant has stopped pushing the Creators Update downloads to part of the PCs. But for those who have got the Windows 10 Creators Update, they are now bothered with the USB 3.0 crash but can't do anything about it.
If you encounter the USB 3.0 not working or USB 3.0 not recognized problem as well, don't be worried. You can go on the reading in this post, and the instructions below will put you on the right path.

Top 5 Ways to Fix USB 3.0 Not Working after the Windows 10 Creators Update/Windows 10 Fall Creators Update
The following are some of the most effective solutions that you can use to fix the USB 3.0 hub problems on your Windows 10 Creators Update/Windows 10 Fall Creators Update computer.
Way 1. Reinstall the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) on Windows 10 Creators Update
You can reinstall the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0) device in the Device Manager on the computer and fix the USB 3.0 not working issue.
1. Use Windows shortcut keysWin + X to launch the Jump List.
2. Select the Device Manager.
3. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers entry.
4. Right click the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0).
5. Select the Uninstall device. You can also uninstall other USB Root Hub devices.
6. Exit the Device Manager and Restart the computer.
Then Windows 10 Creators Update will recognize your USB hub automatically and reinstall the USB controllers.
Way 2. Change Power Management Settings and Fix the USB 3.0 Not Working Issue
One of the workarounds to fix USB 3.0 not working or USB not recognized problem is to change the Power Management Settings. When you are using a laptop with its battery or when there is a low voltage for the computer, the Windows 10 Creators Update will turn off the USB controllers to save power, which may cause USB 3.0 not working or not recognized. So you can disable this in Device Manager to fix the issue.
1. Launch the Device Manager with the same step in the Way 1.
2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
3. Double click the USB Root Hub (USB 3.0).
4. Head to the Power Management tab.
5. Uncheck the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
6. Click OK.
You can also do the same to other USB Root Hub devices. And then restart the computer to make the changes take effects.
Way 3. Disable USB Selective Suspend Setting and Fix the USB 3.0 Not Working
The power does have an influence on the USB device. Besides the Way 2, you can also disable the USB selective suspend setting in the Power Options so that the USB 3.0 not recognized problem or the eject USB crash issue can be resolved on your Windows 10 Creators Update or Windows 10 Fall Creators Update computer.
1. Use Windows shortcut keysWin + X to launch the Jump List. Call of duty black ops mods pc download.

Way 4. Disable USB 3.0/3.1 eXtensible Host Controller
The message — “USB device not recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.” or “Eject USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)” often appears on computers with the Gigabyte Z170X motherboard, so if you seldom use the USB 3.0/USB 3.1 port on the back of the computer host, you can disable the USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller in Device Manager and fix the USB 3.0/3.1 not working or not recognized problem on Windows 10 Creators Update or Windows 10 Fall Creators Update computer.
1. Go to the Device Manager.
2. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
3. Right click the USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller.
4. Select the Disable device.
5. Restart the computer.
Way 5. Reinstall the USB Driver and Fix the USB 3.0 Not Working on Windows 10 Creators Update
Updating to the latest Windows 10 build may result in the compatibility problem between the OS and the USB 3.0 driver because the old software or programs may be recognized by the new system but fail to be compatible with the OS. Then problems will occur, like USB not working, no sound after the update, unidentified network, etc. Also, the Windows 10 Creators Update or the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update may cause related system files corrupted, which will affect the proper working of the USB drivers.
If you receive some error messages like 'unspecified' USB 3.0 or 3.1 device, but there's no problem with the USB 3.0 hardware, you need to restore the system back to the old version or install proper USB 3.0 drivers on your Windows 10 Creators Update computer. You can use professional driver download and update utilities like Drive Talent to help download and install the best-match USB 3.0 drivers. It offers the official and WHQL drivers compatible with the latest Windows 10 build and you are allowed to choose any versions that go with your USB device.
